ÖSTERSUND, Sweden – Liz Keady Norton, the head coach of Dartmouth women's hockey, won a bronze medal with Team USA as assistant coach at the 2023 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship. Team USA closed out the tournament with a 5-0 shutout win to earn bronze over Finland.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to coach Team USA in the IIHF U18 World Championships in Sweden," Keady Norton said. "It was a privilege to work with some of the best athletes and coaches in our game. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. Although bronze is not the medal we set out for, I am proud of our group for a strong finish and bringing home a medal."
The U.S. dominated its final game of the tournament, hosted in Östersund, Sweden. The Americans outshot their Swedish opponents 17-3 in the opening period, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Team USA did not let up as the game progressed, scoring a pair of goals in each of the final two period to win the bronze medal game in emphatic fashion.
The United States finished the tournament with a trio of wins, including one over host nation Sweden and two against the Finns. The Americans outscored their opponents 21-9 over the course of the tournament.
Team USA extended its streak of 15-straight medal wins, earning hardware at every iteration of the IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, dating back to 1990.
