HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's tennis team, now 2-0 on the season, rolled to a 7-0 victory over Merrimack Saturday afternoon at Alexis Boss Tennis Center.
As they did in the season-opening win over St. John's, the Big Green earned the doubles point and displayed depth in singles to close out a home victory.
Ashley Hess and
Valentina Cruz won, 6-0, at No. 2 doubles before
Ujvala Jupalli and
Emily Zhou clinched the point at the No. 3 position.
Dartmouth's momentum continued as
Ameliija Swaffer-Selff tallied another point at No. 6 singles with a quick two-set triumph. Jupalli followed with a win at the No. 3 position, and
Brooke Hess sealed the team's win after downing Merrimack's Giulia Martins Cavalcante at No. 4. Action continued as
Chidimma Okpara,
Ashley Hess and Cruz were victorious to secure the sweep. Jupalli and Okpara both improved to 2-0 in singles play this season.
Having won both of their first two matches for the first time since 2018, the Big Green are back in action Saturday, Feb. 4 to host Boston College at 11 a.m. A home date with Maryland awaits Dartmouth on the following day, also at 11 a.m.
