STARTING OFF WITH A WIN
The Big Green won their season-opener for the first time since the 2015-16 season after defeating Assumption on Tuesday evening by a score of 3-2.
Izee Powell and
Cally Dixon both scored in the first 3:05 of the game to put Dartmouth ahead 2-0. The Greyhounds cut into the deficit during the second period, but a goal from
Jenna Donohue early in the third period pushed the lead back to two.
Assumption scored later in the third to make it a one-goal game. The Big Green held on for the 3-2 win.
Eleanor Rogers made 25 saves in her collegiate debut.
SCOUTING HARVARD
Friday's game will be the first of the year for Harvard. They played McGill in an exhibition last Friday evening.
Out of the top five scorers for Harvard last season, only three return in 2023-24. Shannon Hollands (14), Gabi Davidson Adams (13) and Paige Lester (10) finished third, fourth and fifth last season.
The Crimson are coming off a 7-21-3, 6-13-3 season in 2022-23. They earned the eight seed in last year's ECAC Hockey tournament, falling to Yale in the opening round.
Harvard alumnus Laura Bellamy was announced as the new head coach of the Crimson in August, returning to Harvard after eight years on the staff at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
The Big Green are 46-56-4 all-time against the Crimson. Harvard has enjoyed recent success in the series as Dartmouth is looking for its first win since a 2-1 victory on Oct. 23, 2015.
