HARTFORD, Conn. – Tucker McRae scored on the power play in the third period in his first appearance since the season opener, but the Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to UConn, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the XL Center.
Roan Clarke made his collegiate debut between the pipes for the Big Green, finishing with 26 saves, including 14 in the opening period.
Dartmouth moves to 2-2-3 overall and UConn improves to 6-8-1.
The Big Green scored their lone goal of the night late in the third. The Huskies were called for interference, and Dartmouth took advantage of the extra skater opportunity. After knocking the puck around in the UConn defensive zone,
Nate Morgan played the soft pass for McRae to quickly shoot through traffic and past UConn goaltender Ethan Haider into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
Morgan recorded his first point of the year with the assist while
Eric Charpentier picked up his second point with the secondary assist.
The Huskies scored twice just 18 seconds apart midway through the opening period to take a 2-0 lead. Chase Bradley scored his second goal of the night late in the second period to give UConn a 3-0 lead going into the final 20 minutes of play.
Ryan Tattle and Jake Black both scored inside the first five minutes of the last period to push the lead to five. McRae's goal with just under five minutes remaining cut the Big Green deficit down to four, but the Huskies pushed the lead back to five when Matthew Wood scored his seventh goal of the season.
UConn outshot Dartmouth, 32-23, but the Big Green held the edge over periods two and three with an 18-16 advantage.

Friday's game against the Saints is scheduled for 7 p.m. and Saturday's contest is slated for 4 p.m. Both games are available to stream nationally on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet.
