CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Dartmouth men's squash team began its Ivy League slate on Wednesday at second-ranked Harvard, but the Crimson (3-0, 2-0 Ivy) dealt the 10th-ranked Big Green (1-1, 0-1 Ivy) an 8-1 defeat at the Murr Center Squash Courts.
Harvard had won its first two matches by 9-0 counts, but Dartmouth first-year
Callan Venkatesan ended that perfect streak by winning his match at No. 8 in straight sets with all three ending in an 11-8 score.
Three other Big Green started off well by taking the first set in their matches, starting with
David Rubin at the fourth position with an 11-5 victory.
Quintin Campbell grabbed the first set at No. 5, 11-7, and
Rana Thakkar did as well at No. 9, 13-11. But Harvard came right back and took the next three sets to claim 3-1 victories. And senior
Ned Gildea also took a set after going down 2-0 at No. 6, but Neel Joshi secured the fourth set for the Crimson in the end.
Harvard won each of the other four positions in straight sets, including Liam Rotzoll at No. 7 who clinched the match for the Crimson.
The Big Green men will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 2 when they square off against MIT at the University of Virginia's McArthur Squash Center at 11:30 a.m.
