HANOVER, N.H. — Returning to the courts for the first time since hosting the ECAC Championship two weekends ago, the Dartmouth women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Long Beach State Saturday afternoon at Alexis Boss Tennis Center.
Brooke Hess and
Katie Weber clinched the doubles point with their 7-5 win on Court 2, but Long Beach State went on to win four singles matches to edge the Big Green in a closely contested Saturday showdown.
Along with Hess and Weber,
Emily Zhou and
Lexi Dewire added a doubles victory for Dartmouth at the No. 3 position. Zhou, playing on Court 5, went on to claim one of the Big Green's two singles wins, while
Chidimma Okpara notched the other on the top court. Senior co-captain Zhou improved to a team-best 5-1 on the season in singles play.
Ashley Hess (No. 2) and
Ujvala Jupalli (No. 4) both battled their Beach counterparts in three-set matches.
Dartmouth is set to take on Boston University at Winchester Indoor Tennis in Winchester, Massachusetts on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m.
