HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team suffered a 8-0 loss against No. 6 Quinnipiac at Thompson Arena. The Big Green were unable to generate offense against the Bobcats as Quinnipiac secured the season series sweep Friday afternoon.
The Big Green were outshot 43-14 by the Bobcats.
Elle Sullivan made 35 saves for Dartmouth, while Logan Angers registered a shutout for the visitors.
Quinnipiac pressured Dartmouth from the opening faceoff, as Sullivan was tested often in the early stages. The freshman came up large for the Big Green in the opening minute of the game, stopping a breakaway opportunity to keep the game scoreless.
The Bobcats got on the board in the sixth minute of the opening period, as Kendall Cooper snuck one past Sullivan to take a 1-0 lead.
Maya Labad extended Quinnipiac's advantage on a power play opportunity with 6:20 left in the period. The Bobcats scored following a minor penalty was assessed to
Izee Powell.
Quinnipiac took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission and outshot Dartmouth, 15-3. The Bobcats won 14 of 21 faceoffs in the first 20 minutes.
Sadie Peart extended Quinnipiac's lead to three just 78 seconds into the period on a wrap-around. Her 11
th of the season was the only goal of the period as Dartmouth headed into the final period with a 3-0 deficit.
The second period featured more pressure from Quinnipiac in the form of 17 shots on goal. Dartmouth was only managed to challenge Angers with four shots.
Quinnipiac's offense was effective in the third as goals from Jess Schryver, Kate Reilly, Shay Maloney, Alexa Hoskin and Maddy Samoskevich gave the visitors an eight-goal win. The Big Green recorded seven shots on goal but could not solve Angers.
Dartmouth fell to 7-17-0 with an 3-14-0 ECAC Hockey conference record. Quinnipiac improved to 25-5-0 and 15-3-0 in conference action.
The Big Green take the ice tomorrow against Princeton. The puck drops at Thompson Arena at 3 p.m. and a stream is available on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet internationally.
