HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team returns to Thompson Arena for the first two games of a four-contest home stand. Following the team's first win over a ranked opponent last weekend, the Big Green look to knock off a pair of ECAC Hockey opponents, as Dartmouth battles Princeton and No. 6/6 Quinnipiac.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green took the ice last weekend for a pair of road ECAC Hockey tilts in New York. Dartmouth faced off with then-No. 5 Colgate Friday, January 27 before heading to Ithaca for an Ivy League matchup with then-No. 10 Cornell.
After a tough outing against Colgate, the Big Green bounced back to claim their first road victory over a conference foe since 2015. Dartmouth defeated Cornell, 5-1, in a matchup that saw four student-athletes find the back of the net.
Freshman goaltender
Elle Sullivan stopped 31 of 32 shots on goal she faced against the Big Red. Her performance anchored the Big Green to victory and kept Cornell from getting back into the game. Sullivan picked up the first conference win of her career to cap off a strong performance.
Laura Fuoco,
Jenna Donohue and
Maura Fiorenza scored once for the Big Green, while
CC Bowlby recorded Dartmouth's final two goals, including an empty-net tally. Fiorenza's first collegiate goal in the second period proved to be the game-winner.
Dartmouth's win over Cornell marked the team's first win over a ranked foe since October 30, 2021 (then-No. 9 Cornell, 4-3). The Big Green's last road win over a ranked team came against then-No. 10 Cornell on February 14, 2015 by a score of 3-2.
THE POSTSEASON APPROACHES
Dartmouth enters the final stretch of the regular season, as the Big Green have just six more games before the ECAC Hockey championships.
The Big Green currently sit in the No. 11 position in the conference with 11 points in 16 games. Dartmouth has won two of its last four conference tilts over Union and then-No. 10 Cornell.
The conference tournament features the top eight programs. Quinnipiac, Yale and Colgate have clinched a playoff berth, with five spots up for grabs. Dartmouth needs to strong together multiple wins to climb into the top eight.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
Quinnipiac enters this weekend as the No. 6 team, as ranked in the USA Hockey/USA Today and USCHO polls. The Bobcats hold a record of 24-5-0 and a 14-3-0 ECAC Hockey record.
The Bobcats were the first team in the conference to punch their ticket to the ECAC Hockey Championships. Quinnipiac will look to continue its winning ways to clinch the top seed in the conference.
Olivia Mobley has led the way for Quinnipiac offensively. The junior leads her team in goals (15) and assists (22) and ranks fifth in the conference in points (37). Mobley averages 1.28 points per game and has been the catalyst to Quinnipiac's impressive offense.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BOBCATS
Dartmouth looks for its first win over the Bobcats since the 2018-19 season this weekend, as Quinnipiac holds a 17-12-4 advantage in the all-times series dating back to 2005.
The Bobcats claimed the first meeting of the season series against Dartmouth on January 6. The Big Green attempted to mount a late comeback in the third period, but dropped a 3-2 decision against then-No. 3 Quinnipiac in Hamden, Connecticut.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
Princeton heads to Hanover with a record of 10-11-1 and a 6-10-0 mark in conference play. The Tigers are receiving votes in the latest USA Hockey/USA Today and USCHO polls.
The Tigers hold the eighth seed in the ECAC Hockey standings and would be the final team to qualify for the postseason currently. Princeton looks to solidify its playoff standing with a win over the Big Green this weekend.
Sarah Fillier leads Princeton in points (28), goals (14) and assists (14). The 2022 Olympian registered a hattrick and an assist in Princeton's emphatic 11-3 win over Quinnipiac last weekend.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE TIGERS
Princeton holds a 53-32-7 advantage on Dartmouth in the all-time series, including a sweep of both contests last season.
The Tigers scored four goals in the opening period in the first meeting of the season series on January 6. Dartmouth attempted a comeback, scoring two goals, but a fifth tally from Princeton sealed a 5-2 victory.
Dartmouth's last win over Princeton came on November 12, 2016. The Big Green claimed a 3-2 overtime win over the Tigers at Thompson Arena.
