HANOVER, N.H. — Despite several competitive matches, the Dartmouth women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Maryland Sunday afternoon at Alexis Boss Tennis Center.
The Terrapins began the match earning the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
Lexi Dewire and
Emily Zhou battled on the third court, but were unable to finish before singles play ensued with Maryland leading 1-0.
Ashley Hess, who earned one of Dartmouth's two singles wins against Boston College a day prior, picked up a three-set victory over Maryland's Minorka Miranda for the Big Green's lone victory. The senior co-captain has won three straight in singles at the No. 2 position since falling in the season opener.
Chidimma Okpara fought back at No. 1 singles with a resurgent second-set triumph, but ultimately fell to Selma Cadar.
Dartmouth is set to host the ECAC Indoor Championship beginning Friday, Feb. 10.
