WILMINGTON, N.C. — Concluding its non-conference slate, the Dartmouth men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat to defending CAA champion UNC Wilmington Friday afternoon at UNCW Courts.
Miles Groom and North Carolina native
Waleed Qadir battled on the top doubles court, but weren't able to hold off Reece Falk and Bekhzod Rasamatov, who successfully clinched the point for the Seahawks. Several tight battles ensued in singles as four different matches went three sets.
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez (No. 1),
Henry Ren (No. 3) and
Alex Knox-Jones (No. 5) each started strong with first set victories, but were unable to hold off their UNC Wilmington counterparts in three-set nailbiters.
Logan Chang used a resurgent second set to force a third on Court 6.
Sitting at 10-8 on the season after wrapping up a non-conference slate that saw the Big Green record their second 6-0 start in the last three seasons and eventually their best start through 13 matches since 2018, Dartmouth hosts Harvard as Ivy League play kicks off on Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m.
