ITHACA, N.Y. — Dartmouth battled back after dropping a narrow doubles point, but ultimately was handed a 4-1 loss by Cornell on Sunday afternoon at Reis Tennis Center.
Brooke Hess and
Katie Weber emerged victorious at No. 2 doubles and
Chidimma Okpara and
Ashley Hess nearly clinched the point in favor of the Big Green, but lost the tiebreaker after a closely contested battle on the top court.
Dartmouth fought back with Jupalli's two-set triumph at No. 4 singles, bringing the score to 2-1, but Cornell eventually clinched the 4-1 win on Court 1.
Lexi Dewire claimed the first set at the No. 6 position and was leading the second set, 5-3, when the match was clinched.
Brooke Hess was leading in the second set at No. 5 after dropping the first.
With Sunday's loss marking the end of a three-match road stretch, Dartmouth returns home on Saturday, April 22 to face Princeton at 1 p.m. The Big Green will honor the seniors the following day when they host Penn, also slated for 1 p.m.
