GREENWICH, Conn. — The Dartmouth men's golf team showed improvement during the second day of the Ivy League Championship. The Big Green shaved two strokes off their first-round score, closing the day in second place.
Mark Turner led the way for the Big Green on their second day at the Stanwich club, shooting even during the second round. His day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole. He recorded three birdies on the round and heads into the final day of competition tied for fifth in a field of 33.
Eli Kimche heads to the final round of the conference championship shooting even, as he shot 2-over par on Saturday. The sophomore is tied for third with Brian Ma of Harvard, and trials just Riccardo Fantinelli and Jackson Fretty of Princeton.
Alex Gu maintained seventh place with a strong showing in the second round. The junior shaved two strokes off his round one result and has recorded scores of 75-73-148.
Justin Lee struggled to find his stride throughout the round, finishing the day tied for 29
th.
Eli Thrasher entered the tournament as a lineup substitute for
Aaron Zhang and shot 8-over par on the day.
Princeton took a commanding lead on the field of teams, jumping three spots on the team leaderboard with a spectacular showing in the second round. The Tigers cut 28 strokes off their performance from Friday. Dartmouth fell to second and sit eight strokes behind Princeton for the lead. Columbia maintained its third-place position and trail the Big Green by five strokes heading into Sunday's final round.
The Big Green are back in action for the final round of the Ivy League Championship tomorrow morning. Tee off at the Stanwich Club is set for 10 a.m.
