HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth sailing team opened the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's Fleet Race National Championship on Tuesday in Kings Point, New York. The Big Green closed the opening day of the semifinals in fourth place in the western division and will look to clinch a spot in the finals tomorrow.

The Big Green, after six races in both the "A" and "B" divisions, are ranked fourth in a field of 18 programs in the western division. Nine teams from the both the western and eastern divisions will qualify for the final round of the regatta.

"Today was a great opening day to the women's championship series," head coach
Justin Assad said. "This is the semi-finals, so our goals are to get the race course and boats dialed in and to observe and learn any trends. We were pleased with the way our women sailed, and we are looking forward to tomorrow!"

Dartmouth was represented by
Maddie Hawkins,
Aisling Sullivan and
Maddie Hughes in the "A" division. The trio finished the day tied for third with Stanford.
Gray Hemans and
Caroline Oyster in the "B" division, closing the day in fifth place.
