HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth sailing team ensured it would compete for a national title with an impressive day on the waters of Kings Point, New York on Wednesday. The Big Green sailed to a third-place finish in the western division of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Fleet Race National Championship semifinals, punching their ticket to the final round of the regatta.

Boyd Bragg and
Drew Clutterbuck represented the Big Green in the "A" division on Wednesday and dominated their competition, while
Maddie Hawkins and
Yumi Yoshiyasu set sail in the "B" division. Dartmouth jumped from ninth place to third with consistent performances on Wednesday.

Dartmouth received four top-three finishes and a race victory from Bragg and Clutterbuck in "A" division competition. The pair placed seventh or higher in every race they took part in and closed the semifinals with a first-place finish in the 13th overall race. Bragg and Clutterbuck's performances propelled Dartmouth to second place in the division.

Hawkins and Yoshiyasu were steady for the Big Green, finishing outside of the top 10 just one on Wednesday. The Big Green showed marked improvement from the opening day of the semifinals and will look to carry the momentum into the finals.

Dartmouth and eight other teams from the western division will be joined by nine teams from the eastern division in the finals of the Open Fleet Race Championship.
