The goal came in the 82nd minute

HANOVER, N.H. – In a contest that featured just six combined shots on goal, the Dartmouth women's soccer team scored late to defeat Cornell, 1-0, in Ivy League play on Saturday afternoon at Burnham Field.

"We're really excited about the result and to do it in front of an incredible on Family Weekend is a really special moment for the team," said Taylor Schram, the Stacy and Nick Branca Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer. "I think it's a testament to the heart and fight and preparation that they put in each and every day."

The Big Green found the breakthrough in the 82^nd minute. After a throw-in in front of the Dartmouth bench, Daisy Granholm flicked the ball into the stride of Hannah Curtin as she went towards goal. Getting closer to the end line, Curtin drew the Cornell goalkeeper's attention and slipped the ball back towards the top of the box where Hailey Rorick was waiting. Rorick calmly struck the ball first time into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.

The first 45 minutes of play was relatively quiet as Dartmouth registered the only shot on goal. With under seven minutes to go in the opening half, Frankie Valverde lofted a high ball over the Big Red defense to Curtin. Curtin's outside of the foot shot was saved by Cornell goalkeeper Erica Fox, who came flying out of goal to cut down the angle.

Both teams finished with eight shots, with Dartmouth having five shots on goal to Cornell's one. The Big Red had seven corner kicks while the Big Green had four.

With the win, Dartmouth improves to 7-0-3, 2-0-0 while Cornell falls to 3-2-4, 0-2-0.

Reflecting on her first career goal, Rorick said, "It feels great. The team worked hard, we had a great build up and I was able to be there to slot it in."

Dartmouth has a quick turnaround with a trip to Harvard on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be available to stream regionally on NESN, nationally on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet.

Notes: Dartmouth's 2-0 record in the Ivy League marks the first time since the 2009 season in which the team won its first two league contests.
