Dartmouth Drops Friday Matchup With Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Dartmouth field hockey team fell 8-1 to Ivy League foe Brown on Friday afternoon.
The Big Green looked to have taken the lead eight minutes into the game as Olivia Galiotos fired the ball into the cage. However, after review, the goal was wiped off the board.
With less than two minutes remaining in the opening quarter the Bears took a 1-0 lead.
At the end of the first quarter, Dartmouth goalkeeper Isabel Andrews made five saves while the Big Green earned two penalty corners.
3:33 into the second quarter, the Bears scored their second goal of the game off a rebound. With less than four minutes remaining in the half, the Bears made it 3-0.
Andrews came out of the cage at the start of the second half after making eight saves in the first half.
Ava Carlson took over in the cage for her first action of the season. She made three saves in the third quarter as Brown made it a 6-0 game after three quarters.
Brown added two goals in the fourth quarter.
With three minutes remaining in regulation Riley Dumigan netted her second goal in as many games. She ran to circle and wound up for a screen shot. Zoe Schaffer screened the goalie and the ball found the back of the cage.
Carlson made six saves in the game. Dumigan, Lucia Campaño, and Grabriela Braceras all tallied a shot on goal in the loss.
The Big Green are back in action on Sunday Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. at Chase Field as Vermont travels to Hanover.
