Mike Nelson, the Marjorie & Herbert Chase '30 Director of Dartmouth Track & Field and Cross Country, has announced the hiring of Tom Sage as an assistant coach with the Track and Field program.
Prior to Dartmouth, Sage spent 10 years at Virginia Commonwealth University, playing an integral role in the growth and success of the men's and women's programs. Sage oversaw the hurdles, vertical jumps, and multis and assisted in eleven women's Atlantic 10 team titles, 68 - A-10 medalists, 14 - VCU school records, 9 - NCAA East Preliminary Qualifiers, 4 - A10 conference records, and 1 - USATF U20 qualifier.

Sage worked as a volunteer at The University of Texas and the University of Illinois, under Tonja Buford-Bailey. Sage began his colligate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Prior to his coaching experience, Sage competed as a decathlete at Marquette University. He was a consistent Conference USA & Big East conference qualifier and point scorer. Sage was a multiple IC4A qualifier.
A native of New Berlin, WI, Sage earned his Bachelor's from Marquette University.
"I am thrilled to be adding Tom Sage to the Big Green Track and Field coaching staff. Tom has had a very successful run as an assistant coach at VCU, helping the Rams win 11 A-10 conference titles. Tom will be focusing on our sprints, hurdles and relays but he's able to coach just about every event. As a former decathlete, Tom is well versed in all aspects of track & field, and he has incredible work ethic. Tom is excited about bringing his family to the Upper Valley and helping the Big Green chase Ivy League titles," said Nelson.
