HANOVER, N.H. – Maddie LaFata recorded a career high 22 kills as the Dartmouth women's volleyball team fell to Penn in a five set thriller, 3-2 on Saturday afternoon from Leede Arena.
SET BREAKDOWN:

The Big Green end the season 10-14 (3-11 Ivy League) and Penn ends their season 3-10 (7-7 Ivy League).Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- Penn jumped ahead early 8-3 but the Big Green responded with six unanswered to take a 9-8 lead.
- The teams then went point for point and the set saw seven ties to bring the score to 20-20.
- Three straight kills from LaFata and Piper Stevens put the Big Green ahead, but the Quakers ended the set scoring five points to Dartmouth's one, 25-21 Quakers. Â
SET TWO:
- The set once again saw seven ties until Penn was able to take a 17-13 lead which led to a Dartmouth timeout.
- Two kills from LaFata, and one a piece from Molly Power and Ava Roberts brought the Big Green within one, 19-18.
- Penn closed out the set on a 6-1 run to win it 25-19.
SET THREE:
- Penn scored first and held a lead until Dartmouth went on a 6-0 run to reclaim the lead, 11-7.
- Seven errors from the Quakers and two kills from Kauany Gutz and LaFata gave the Big Green a 20-12 lead and forced a Penn timeout late in the set.
- Two aces from Gutz brought the score to set point and a Roberts kill gave the Big Green the set, 25-13.
SET FOUR:
- The teams exchanged two and three point runs until three straight kills from LaFata and one from Gutz gave the Big Green a 15-10 lead and forced a Penn timeout.
- Later in the set, two kills from Roberts and one from Raeli Smith brought the Big Green to 21-16.
- Dartmouth ended the set on a 6-2 run, capped off by an ace from Smith, 25-18.
SET FIVE:
- The teams went point for point the majority of the set, with five ties.
- Going into the fifth set side switch, Dartmouth held an 8-7 lead.
- Dartmouth took a two-point lead, 11-9 after a kill from LaFata and an ace from Stevens. Penn responded and tied it up, 11-11.
- Three kills from Penn ended the set, 16-14 Quakers.
