NEW YORK, N.Y.—The Dartmouth field hockey team closed out the 2024 season on Sunday with a trip to New York City to take on Columbia. Despite 12 shots, the Big Green fell 4-1.

The first quarter saw Dartmouth register five shots with three finding the goal, but it was Columbia who held a lead after the first 15. Just 1:16 into the game, the Lions scored following a penalty corner.

Dartmouth's Amelie Luessmann tied the game at one at the 8:25 mark of the second quarter. Luessmann camped at the back corner of the cage and deflected a hard low shot from Gabriela Braceras for her first collegiate goal. Braceras picked up her team leading sixth assist of the season.

At halftime, the game was tied at one despite Dartmouth outshooting Columbia 11-5 while Dartmouth also earned seven compared to three from Columbia.

Columbia took the lead with less than 10 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

The Lions added to their lead twice in the fourth quarter. The two goals came in the final 11 minutes of the game to secure the win.

Ava Carlson started in goal for the Big Green and made five saves.

The Big Green tallied seven shots on goal with Luessmann leading the way with two. Braceras, Riley Dumigan, Helen Young, Olivia Galiotos, and Lucia Campaño each tallied a shot on goal in the loss.

Dartmouth closes out the season with three wins while Dumigan was the team leader in points with 10. She was also tied with Emilia Callahan, Campaño, and Ella Bowman for the team lead in goals with four.
