PRINCETON, N.J. — The Dartmouth women's rowing team closed out its fall schedule on Sunday with a strong effort at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie. All five Big Green boats finished in the top six of their respective entries (A, B, C, D and E boats). Sunday featured a single three-mile race for each event in a time trial format.
"We use the Princeton Chase as a good benchmark for the team heading into the winter," said Dartmouth head coach
John Graves. "Comparing the two data points from last year to this year, really proud of the growth of the team. The whole team, all five eights, took a really nice step forward this weekend, really cutting the gap with some of the crews in the Ivy League and nationally. We need to keep it going."
The Varsity Eight finished fourth overall out of 68 crews with a time of 14:11.909, only trailing Princeton (13:49.549), Rutgers (13:58.623) and Penn (14:04.356).
Dartmouth's B boat finished in 14:32.951 as the sixth overall B boat to finish.
The Big Green's 3V, 4V and 5V finished in 27th, 43rd and 49th, each in the top five of their respective entries. For the complete results, please see below.
The Big Green enter the winter on a high note after a strong fall of continued progress.
"Very lucky to have great senior leadership from
Emma Hochberg and Ariana Stamatoyannopoulos, our top captains who really set the tone of the standards of the team," said Graves. "It feels like a really unified group who's excited about putting in the work to continue to climb the ranks in the Ivy League. Across the coaching staff as well with Merritt [Denham] and Kendall [Brewer], doing a great job of building the depth of the program from the bottom up."
