ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. – At the NEISA Singlehanded Championships in September,
Sarah Young placed third, punching her ticket to the National Championship. After the first day of competition in Florida, Young currently sits in sixth place, having posted 63 total points.
Young started the racing with four straight top ten finishes, a fifth place, ninth place, and two tenth place finishes, finding herself in seventh place.
She posted a 16
th place finishing position but immediately followed with a second-place finish, bumping her to eighth place and only one point out of seventh.
Young wrapped the first day of racing with fifth and sixth place finishing positions, jumping to sixth place with a total 63 points, one point ahead of seventh place Tulane.
The middle of the pack is tight as there is only six points separating Young and the ninth-place student-athlete. Young currently sits 12 points behind Brown's Katharine Doble in fifth place.
Young will return to the water Sunday for the final day of competition, looking to continue to climb the standings at the National Championship.
