HANOVER, N.H.—No. 13 Dartmouth men's hockey fell 3-2 on Friday night to ECAC foe St. Lawrence at Thompson Arena.
The first period saw the Big Green outshoot St. Lawrence 10-4 but it was the Saints who held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. St. Lawrence scored at the 10:37 mark of the opening frame.
The Big Green answered just 1:17 into the second period as Hayden Stavroff scored his fifth goal of the season. CJ Foley kept the puck in on the side wall and flung it towards the net. The puck deflected off of Ian Pierce and Stavroff picked up the puck in the slot and his shot squeaked through the goalie.
St. Lawrence took its lead back at the 5:31 mark of the second period.
Dartmouth once again answered, at the 9:55 point of the second the game was tied once again. Following a scrum on the left half wall the puck kicked out to Pierce at the left point. Pierce fired the puck across to Foley. He took a shot and the rebound deflected off a St. Lawrence defensemen into the net. Foley was credited with his third goal of the season.
After two periods, the game was tied at two with Dartmouth holding the shot advantage 20-14.
The Saints took the lead at the 4:41 mark of the third period and held of the Big Green for the final 15:19.
Dartmouth's best chance to tie the game came with less than 10 seconds remaining as Sean Chisholm rang a rebound off the right post.
Roan Clarke made 16 saves in the loss.
Foley increased his team high point streak to eight games while he has now scored in back-to-back games for the first time in his collegiate career.
Piece notched his first multi-point game of the season and the seventh of his career.
The Big Green close out the weekend on Saturday night as No. 20 Clarkson travels to Thompson Arena. Dartmouth will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for its annual toy drive. All toys collected will be donated to local children. Puck drop is slated for 7 PM.
