PHILADELPHIA — Opening the ECAC Championships at Penn on Friday afternoon, the fifth-seeded Dartmouth men's tennis team suffered a 4-1 loss to the fourth-seeded host despite earning the doubles point.
In comeback fashion after falling on Court 3, the Big Green clinched doubles thanks to victories from
Henry Ren and
Alex Knox-Jones at the No. 1 position, and finally
Hikaru Takeda and
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez in the No. 2 spot.
The Quakers were able to seal it in singles with each of the four finished matches siding in their favor. Matthew Rutter's victory on Court 5 was the backbreaker for the Big Green, who still had a chance with
Miles Groom leading by a set at the No. 4 position.
Dartmouth is set to face Temple on Saturday at 9 a.m.
