ROCKVILLE, Md. – Following a 4-0 loss to Harvard in the ECAC Indoor Championship and a sixth-place finish overall, the Big Green looked to get back to their winning ways when they traveled to take on Georgetown. Despite winning only one doubles match, the Big Green won four of the six singles matches, earning the 4-3 victory over the Hoyas.
With the win, the Big Green move to 4-3 overall whereas Georgetown falls to 4-7.
The top doubles tandem of
Lexi Dewire and
Elizabeth Fahrmeier were the only pair to see success, defeating their Georgetown competitors, 6-3.
Peyton Capuano won at No. 1 singles for the Big Green and despite dropping the second and fifth singles match, Dewire earned her second victory of the day to keep the Big Green in the match on Court 3.
Caroline Lemcke at No. 4 and
Katie Weber at No. 6 singles also won their matches, with Weber sealing the 4-3 victory for the Big Green
Weber's first match went to a tie breaker, as she was able to win 7-3 to take the first set. She then cruised to a 6-2 victory in the second set, clinching the six singles and match win for the Big Green.
Dartmouth will return to action tomorrow when they face Navy. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
