ATHENS, Ga. — Finishing off the Georgia Classic, which featured four games, including two against nationally ranked teams, the Dartmouth softball team suffered an 8-1 loss to No. 3 Georgia on Sunday afternoon.
Â
Kelly Beaupre drove in
Mary Beth Cahalan during the sixth inning to allow the Big Green to avoid being shutout by the Bulldogs, whose 2024 campaign is off to a 12-1 start. Georgia took control of the game in the first inning with Sara Mosley's three-run home run and grew its lead in the second when Mosley struck again to cap off another three-run frame.
Rachel McCarroll dealt three scoreless frames before the Bulldogs scored two more in the sixth.
Â
Dartmouth totaled five hits, including one from
Ashley Frantz, who had the Big Green's only two hits last night against No. 21 Virginia Tech. Cahalan drew a walk to lead off the sixth inning and advanced to third on
Alaana Panu's single before scoring on Beaupre's RBI groundout to put Dartmouth on the board.
Â
Mosley, a 2023 All-SEC First Teamer, was 3-for-3 at the plate with five RBIs to lead the Bulldogs. Emily Digby and Jayda Kearney also contributed multiple hits. Georgia used four different pitchers, with Madison Kerpics getting the win having tossed two shutout innings. Destin Howard pitched the final three innings to earn the save.
