PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – After a loss to Stanford in the College Squash Association National Collegiate Team Championships Round of 16, the Big Green matched up against Drexel. The Big Green were able to win two matches on the day, including one in five games, but fell to the Dragons 7-2.
Ellie Clifford at the second position fell behind in the match, dropping the first game, 11-7, to Drexel's Sanya Vats. Clifford continued to fight though, winning three straight games to secure the match victory for the Big Green.
Callie Worth was the other member of the Big Green to pick up a match win against the Dragons, holding on to win in five games. Worth and Drexel's Claudia Adam went to extra points in the first game. Worth found herself on top, winning the game 14-12. Adam then won two straight before Worth countered, winning the final two games 11-8 and 11-7 to win the match 3-2.
Zayna Usman was close to securing a third win for the Big Green at the seventh position after getting out to a 2-0 match lead, but Drexel's Lydia Robinson never stopped fighting, winning three straight games to steal the 3-2 victory.
The Big Green women will return to action tomorrow to face the loser of the Tufts and Columbia match. The Big Green recorded an 8-1 victory over Tufts earlier in the year but fell to Columbia 7-2.
