Oscar Zimmer went from 13th place after his first run of the men's slalom into a second-place finish, highlighting Friday for the Dartmouth ski team during day three of the NCAA Championships. Allie Resnick finished in the top 10 in the women's slalom to each earn All-America distinction.
The Big Green remain in fourth place heading into Saturday with 278.0 points. Dartmouth trails Utah (444.5), Denver (401.0) and Colorado (393.5) and is right ahead of Montana State (251.0), Alaska Anchorage (227.0) and Vermont (219.0).
On Friday, Dartmouth earned 64.0 points, which was second most on the women's side (only behind Utah's 68.0). The Big Green's 73.0 for the men was third (only behind Utah's 90.0 and Colorado's 83.0).
Zimmer became Dartmouth's highest finish in the men's slalom at NCAAs since Tanguy Nef won the event in 2018. Zimmer's first run ended with a time of 38.32, which was 13th fastest. His second run of 41.55 was sixth fastest for a total time of 1:19.87.
Senior
Max Martin also placed 17th overall with a total time of 1:20.89. Sophomore
Dan Gillis had the 14th-best time in his first run, but didn't finish his second.
On the women's side, Zimmermann and Resnick both earned second team All-America recognition, finishing ninth and 10th with total times of 1:26.32 and 1:26.35, respectively. Strong first runs helped both, with Resnick posting the third-fastest first run (42.27) and Zimmermann recording the fourth-fastest (42.38).
Resnick earned All-America honors for the second time in her career and first time in the slalom. Last season, she was a second team All-American in the giant slalom. Friday marked the first All-America recognition for Zimmermann.
The fourth and final day of the NCAA Championships is set for Saturday with the Nordic team taking center stage with the 20K Classic.
