GREENWICH, Conn. — The Dartmouth women's golf team put forth a stellar effort in Saturday's second round of the Ivy League Championship, as the Big Green tied for first on the day in shooting 9-over-297 to move into second place heading into Sunday's final round. Through two rounds, Dartmouth is shooting 25-over-601, just two strokes behind Yale in first at 23-over-599. Individually,
Sophie Thai is tied for first at 2-over-146 through the first two rounds.
"DWG played well today," said
Alex Kirk, Carolyn A. Pelzel '54a Head Coach of Women's Golf. "Every shot at Stanwich is challenging; really need to stay below the hole on the green. We are right where we need to be. I like our chances. We. need to stay in the process; the outcome will take care of itself."
Behind Dartmouth is defending champion Penn in third at 31-over-607. The Quakers are followed by Harvard at 32-over-608.
A total team effort saw first-year
Caroline Chung tie for first on Saturday, shooting even par 72. Thai was right behind at 1-over-73, with senior
Katherine Sung at 3-over-75. Senior
Penelope Tir came in at 5-over-77 with sophomore
Kim Shen at 8-over-80.
Along with Thai tied for first through 36 holes, Sung stands in third place at 4-over-148. With her performance Saturday, Chung surged into a tie for 11th at 7-over-151 overall. Tir is shooting 12-over-156.
The Big Green wrap up the Ivy League Championship on Sunday with the final 18 holes. Tee time from The Stanwich Club is set for 9 a.m.
