CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following the third day of sailing in the Women's Fleet Race National Championship and one day of sailing in the championship round, the Big Green find themselves in second place prior to the final day of competition. With 161 total points, Dartmouth is currently the top Ivy League school and sits 36 points behind first-place Stanford and nine points ahead of third-place Yale.
The Big Green got out to a positive start, finishing second in the first race to collect two points. After dropping in the first B Division race, they collected a top five finish in the second and third round races to jump back into fourth.
In the latter half of the day, the Big Green leaped to the top of the pack, collecting eight top five finishes over the final 14 races in both the A and B division. They collected back-to-back first place finishes in the ninth and tenth A races to continue to climb overall Yale and Boston College to sit in second place.
Headed into the final day of Championship racing, the Big Green will look to bridge the gap to first-place Stanford and continue to put distance between themselves and third place Yale.
Following conclusion of sailing today, the Big Green will return to the Charles River tomorrow for the Open Fleet Race National Championship, following the same format of the Women's Championship.
