HANOVER, N.H.—Dartmouth Field Hockey opened its 2024 regular season on Friday afternoon at Chase Field. The Big Green welcomed Lafayette to Hanover as the programs squared off the first time in history. The Leopards spoiled the season opener for Dartmouth as the Big Green fell 3-0.

Neither team generated much offense in the opening 15 minutes as Lafayette tallied just one shot that did not find the goal. Both teams had a corner but did not capitalize on the opportunity.

The offense picked up early in the second quarter as Lafayette opened the scoring just over a minute into the frame on a rebound following a corner. The Leopards tallied six shots in the second quarter, first-year goalkeeper Isabel Andrews turned away two shots in the quarter.

After halftime, Lafayette scored its second rebound goal of the game to take a 2-0 lead with just under 28 minutes remaining in regulation. In the third quarter, Dartmouth tallied four shots with one being on net while also drawing three corners. Andrews made four saves in the quarter.

The Leopards scored with less than 30 seconds left in regulation to make it a 3-0 final score.

Andrews finished her first collegiate game with eight saves, fellow first year Ruby Walsh finished tied for the team lead with two shots in the matchup.

Ella Bowman notched two shots while Riley Dumigan, Emilia Callahan, and Florentina Terra each tallied one shot.

The Big Green are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Amherst, Mass. to take on UMass with the non-conference game scheduled for 1 p.m., the game will be aired on ESPN+.
