AMHERST, Mass.—The Dartmouth Field Hockey team traveled to Amherst, Mass. on Sunday for its first road game of the 2024 season. The Big Green fell 6-0 to the UMass Minutewomen.

UMass opened the scoring just 3:43 into the first quarter as the Minutewomen scored off a penalty corner. Dartmouth held UMass off the board for the remainder of the first half. First year goalkeeper Isabel Andrews made nine saves in the first half as UMass was credited with 16 total shots.

After halftime, UMass netted its second goal of the game just under five minutes into the third quarter. Despite the early goal, Dartmouth held UMass off the scoreboard for the remainder of the third quarter. Andrews made two saves in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, UMass scored four goals to put the game out of reach for the Big Green. Andrews made two saves in the frame while sophomore Kylie McKinley made one save as she played the final seven and a half minutes of the game.

Andrews finished the game with 13 saves, she now has 22 saves this season which is second in the Ivy League through two games. Lucia Campaño tallied the lone Dartmouth shot on goal.

"Simply put today wasn't good enough, I thought coming out of halftime we had a solution that worked relatively well for us in the third quarter" head coach Mark Egner said. "In the fourth quarter we had a number of defensive errors that we absolutely need to clean up this week. Today was not the team we want to be and we have a lot to clean up to be the team we want to be."

The Big Green are back in action Thursday as they take a trip to Rhode Island to take on Providence. The non-conference game starts at 3 p.m. and will be streamed on Flosports.
