Maya Shroff was victorious for Dartmouth at No. 6

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Dartmouth women's squash team returned to the courts on Saturday at eighth-ranked Cornell, but fell short in the end by an 8-1 final. First-year Maya Shroff picked up the Big Green's lone win, at No. 6, with fellow first-year Kriti Muthu falling in five games at No. 7.

The match was the Big Green's first since facing Virginia on Dec. 7.

Shroff highlighted the day when after dropping the first two games, she was victorious — 16-14, 11-9, 11-9 — over the final three games, in a matchup that took 48 minutes to complete.

Muthu found herself leading 2-1 after three games at the No. 7 position, but Cornell's Sabine Ball picked up wins over the final two games.

Also winning games for the Big Green were sophomore Zayna Usman at No. 5 and sophomore Nathalie Taylor at No. 8, each falling 3-1.

The Big Green will look to bounce on Sunday when they play at No. 9 Columbia.
