HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth men's tennis team started its spring season on Sunday at Boss Tennis Center. The Big Green took down Marist 7-0 to start the season.
Doubles
Hikaru Takeda and Alex Knox-Jones opened the day with a 6-1 win in the second doubles position.
Miles Groom and Yujiro Onuma secured the doubles point for the Big Green in third doubles as they won their first match of 2025, 6-3.
Waleed Qadir and Carlos Guerrero Alvarez were paired up in first doubles. The duo was up 5-2 but the match came to an end once Dartmouth earned the doubles point.
Singles
Guerrero Alvarez played in the first singles position. He notched his first win of 2025 with a two-set win, 6-4, 6-1.
Takeda played in the second singles position for the Big Green. He won his first set 6-0 before closing out the match with a 6-4 win in the second set.
Onuma was slotted in the third singles spot for the Big Green. He fell in the first set of the match, 6-3. He forced a tiebreaker set with a 6-3 win in the second set. In the third and final set, he won 10-6 to win the match.
Knox-Jones swept the fourth singles match. He won his first set 6-2 and then completed the sweep with a 6-3 win .
In fifth singles, Groom also came away with a sweep. He won the first set of the match 6-3 and then dominated the second set as he won 6-1.
Qadir completed the sweep for the Big Green in sixth singles. He won the first set 6-3 before closing out the match with a 6-2 win in the second set.
The Big Green return to Boss Tennis Center for two matches next weekend against Le Moyne and DePaul. The Big Green take Le Moyne on Saturday, Jan. 25 and DePaul on Sunday Jan. 26.
