HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's basketball team was bested by Appalachian State on Sunday afternoon at Leede Arena, falling 85-77.
The game marked the Big Green's first meeting against the Mountaineers, and their first game against a member of the Sun Belt Conference since Dec. 12, 2019. Dartmouth is the first Ivy League team that Appalachian State has faced since March 17, 2010, when the Mountaineers faced Harvard.
Kareem Thomas scored a team-high and career-best 21 points, while Jackson Munro scored a season-high 14 points. Brandon Mitchell-Day led the team in rebounds with eight and scored 12 points.
Thomas went 3-3 from beyond the arc and 10-13 in free throws. Munro also impressed, going 4-6 in field goals, 4-5 in three pointers and 2-2 in free throws.

First Half:
- Dartmouth jumped to an early lead of 6-4 with back-to-back three-pointers by Mitchell-Day and Munro.
- The game was neck-and-neck for most of the first half, with the teams staying within three points of each other until Dartmouth took a six-point lead (17-11) with less than 15 minutes remaining.
- Appalachian State fought its way back, taking a lead it wouldn't give up with a layup by Jason Clarke Jr.
- Two Connor Amundsen free throws allowed Dartmouth to come within four points of Appalachian State, ending the half with a score of 41-37.
Second Half:
- Munro opened the half with a three-pointer, followed by two good free throws from Thomas to give Dartmouth the temporary two-point lead. The Mountaineers took back control, going on an eight-point run as the Big Green attempted to keep up.
- The Mountaineers extended their lead to 54-46, but the Big Green tied the score with back-to-back three pointers by Jackson Munro and Kareem Thomas, followed by a dunk from Niko Abusara.
- The teams tied the score again at 56-56, until Appalachian State ran away with the lead. The Big Green came within six points of tying the game with 21 seconds left on the clock, but were unable to do so.

- Dartmouth had a 73.3 free-throw percentage, making 22 of 30. It also had a 42.9 field goal percentage and 44.8% from the 3-point range.
- The Big Green had 16 points in the paint.
