NEW YORK CITY – The Dartmouth men's and women's cross country teams continued the championship portion of their schedules on Friday, participating in the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships on Friday, hosted by Columbia.
"Everyone gave a great effort at this championship, and I believe we had our best team races of the season. It was encouraging to see so many of them improve upon their place from last year. Go Big Green!" Mike Nelson, the Marjorie & Herbert Chase '30 Director of Dartmouth Track & Field and Cross Country, said.
The men saw improvements in their performance compared to last year's championship. Last season, the men finished seventh with 199 points, they improved to fifth place with 143 points this year.
Connor Foley crossed the finish line first for the Big Green, placing 21st overall. Rory Gaan and Callahan Fielder followed behind, finishing 26th and 31st, respectively. Ashton Bange and Max Miller rounded out the scoring for Dartmouth, placing 32nd and 33rd.
The women were paced by Esme Daplyn, who placed 23rd overall. Katherine Strong saw a noticeable difference in her marks by placing 28th overall, improving from her 47th place finish at last year's championship. Andie Murray and Mia Compton-Engle also competed for the Big Green, while Annamaria Bachetta finished out the scoring.
The Big Green will continue its postseason when they head south to Hopkinton, N.H., on Friday, Nov. 14, for the NCAA Northeast Regional.
