CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – On Thursday, first-year
Alexandra Orlins represented the Big Green at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) East Sectionals, competing in the Round of 32 of singles play.
The East Sectional featured teams from the Atlantic, Carolina, New England and Northeast Regions. Orlins qualified for the event after making it to the semifinals of singles play at the ITA New England Regionals three weeks ago.
Orlins took on Amelie Smejkalova of Clemson in the Round of 32. Orlins lost a tough first set, falling 6-4 before coming back to win the second set in dominant fashion, 6-1. Smejkalova came back in the third set, defeating Orlins 6-3.
So far this season, Orlins has posted a 9-3 overall singles record to lead the Big Green.
The rest of Dartmouth women's tennis is in action this weekend, hosting the Big Green Invite at the Boss Tennis Center. Competition will begin on Friday at 12 p.m.
