HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's soccer welcomed the Harvard Crimson to Burnham Field Saturday, hosting them for Senior Day and the regular season finale.
With a win, Dartmouth had a chance to clinch it's first Ivy League tournament berth, but Harvard was playing for the same thing, and came away with the 3-1 victory to defeat the Big Green.
Dartmouth finishes the 2025 campaign with an overall record of 3-8-3 overall and 2-5 in the Ancient Eight.
Harvard had the advantage in the first half, outshooting the Big Green 5-2 and drawing three total corners. It was Dartmouth that won the first half, tallying the lone goal in the final ten seconds to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Big Green drew a foul right outside the box, earning a free kick.
Olly Spicer, who had two free kick goals entering Saturday, took the free kick. The ball ricocheted off the Crimson wall and past the diving goalkeeper to give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead.
The Crimson pressured early to start the second half, scoring just under three minutes in to tie the game at one. Just about 20 minutes later, they doubled their lead, making it a 2-1 game. Before time expired, Harvard added a third goal to secure the victory and keep its hopes at the Ivy League Tournament alive.
In the second half, Harvard outshot Dartmouth 10-5.
Konstantinos Dellas made one save in the second half, while Cullen Macneil made the one save asked of him in net for the Crimson.
"It was a tale of two halves. It was kind of an even game in the first half. We were able to get a goal off Olly [Spicer's] free kick which we were excited about to go into the half one nil up," Bobby Clark Head Coach of Men's Soccer
Bo Oshoniyi said after the game. "I think the start of the second half, I don't think we came out with the right energy, and I think they had a good 20 minute spurt there where they got their two goals and our belief started to wane."
Despite the loss Oshoniyi said he is proud of his team and seven seniors.
"I'm proud of the boys to battle all season. We went through a lot of adversity this fall and for them to continue to battle and out themselves in a position to be playing to get into the Ivy League tournament, I'm just really proud," Oshoniyi said. "I'm really proud of our seniors. They've given me everything for four years. Disappointed that their season ends today, but they're going to be great in the future. They're just unbelievable kids, unbelievable men and I'm excited to see what the future holds for them."
