HANOVER, N.H.—No. 8/7 Dartmouth men's hockey picked up its 11th win of the 2025-26 season on Friday night with a 3-0 win over Army West Point.
The first period saw the Big Green outshoot the Black Knights 11-5 but neither team could crack the scoreboard. The Big Green also edged out Army in the faceoff circle 7-5 in the opening stanza.
The game opened up in the second period as the teams combined for 27 shots, with the Big Green having a 16-11 advantage.
While on the power play, the Big Green broke the scoreless tie at the 9:49 mark of the frame. The puck was loose after pinballing in front and Andrew Clarke found Cooper Cleaves in the high slot. C. Cleaves fed it across to Jason Stefanek in the left circle. He blasted a one-timer off the goalie's helmet and into the net for his second goal of the season. C. Cleaves notched his fourth assist while it was A. Clarke's sixth assist.
Neither team found the back of the net for the rest of the period as the Big Green went to the locker room up 1-0. Dartmouth dominated the faceoff circle 12-5 in the second period.
The third period saw 13 Dartmouth shots while the Big Green allowed just three shots on goal.
With about two minutes left in regulation, the Black Knights looked to pull their goalie for the extra attacker. With the goalie sprinting to the bench, the Big Green forced a turnover in their zone. After a cross-ice pass from Dartmouth, the Army goalie looked to get back in net. However, despite the effort he could not stop a Colin Grable wrister from center ice to make it 2-0. Brock Cummings notched his first NCAA assist while Nathan Morin picked up his fourth assist on Grable's fourth goal of the year.
45 seconds later, the Big Green forced an Army turnover with their goalie pulled. Nikita Nikora controlled the puck and fired home his third goal of the season to close out the game with 1:01 left on the clock.
Roan Clarke picked up his first collegiate shutout as he made 19 saves. 11 of his 19 saves came in the second period. This season he is 6-0-0 with a .920 save percentage and a 1.51 goals against average.
The Big Green won 62.2% of faceoffs on Friday with Morin leading the way with a 10-2 record. Hank Cleaves won nine draws while Cummings was a perfect 3-0.
Dartmouth won the special teams battle while scoring once on the man-advantage and allowing just one shot on one Army powerplay.
The Big Green are 11-0-0 this season, it is the first season since the 1942-43 season that Dartmouth has started 11-0-0.
