Men's Tennis Falls To Yale At ECAC Indoor Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The Dartmouth men's tennis team closed out the ECAC Indoor Championship on Sunday. The Big Green fell 4-3 to Yale in the fifth-place match.

Doubles

Yale took the doubles point as Miles Groom and Waleed Qadir fell 6-1 in first doubles. Henry Ren and Alex Knox-Jones played in second doubles but fell 6-3 as Yale took the doubles point.
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez and Yujiro Onuma were ahead 4-3 in third doubles when the match was stopped due to Yale winning the point.

Singles

Ren was the first member of the Big Green to earn a point on Sunday. He played in second singles and won the first set 6-2. He completed the sweep with a 7-5 win in the second set.

Hikaru Takeda picked up a sweep for the Big Green in the third singles position. He won the first set 7-5 and then completed the sweep with a 6-4 second set win.

Onuma played in sixth singles on Sunday. He fell 6-4 in the first set but forced a third set following a 6-1 second set win. In the third set he won 6-2 to secure a point for the Big Green.

The Big Green fell in first, fourth, and fifth singles as Yale won the match.

Dartmouth returns to Boss Tennis Center for four straight matches starting on Friday, Feb. 21 against Liberty, first serve is slated for 6 PM. The Big Green close out the weekend against Boston University on Sunday, Feb. 23 at noon.
