HANOVER, N.H.—The No. 58 Dartmouth men's tennis team earned a pair of wins on Saturday. Dartmouth started the day with a ranked win over No. 71 NJIT and then closed the day with a win over Quinnipiac.
NJIT Recap (W, 7-0)
The Big Green started the day strong with Dartmouth winning the first doubles point. Carlos Guerrero Alvarez and Denny Bao played in third doubles and came away with a 6-1 win.
Henry Ren and Alex Knox-Jones played in second doubles and won 6-2 to win the doubles point for the Big Green.
Waleed Qadir and Yujiro Onuma were leading 5-2 in first doubles when the match was ended due to Dartmouth securing the point.
Singles
Guerrero Alvarez took care of business in first singles for the Big Green. He won the opening set 6-4 and secured the win with a 7-5 win in the second set.
Ren played in second singles on Saturday morning. He dominated the first set with a 6-1 win. The second set was much closer as Ren came away with a 7-6 win to win the match.
Knox-Jones slid into the third singles spot against NJIT. He edged out his opponent 7-6 in the first set and then secured the sweep with a 6-2 win in the second set.
Miles Groom played fourth singles for the Big Green. The first set went the way of Groom as he won the first set 6-4. He took the win with a 6-2 win in the second set.
Onuma played a near perfect fifth singles match on Saturday. He swept the first set 6-0 and then secured the sweep with a 6-2 win in the second set.
Qadir moved into sixth singles for the Big Green. He dropped the opening set 6-4 but responded strong in the second set. He won the second set 6-1 and completed the comeback with a 6-2 win in the third set.

Bao and Guerrero Alavez brought momentum into the second match of the day as they won their third doubles match 6-3 to start the night cap for the Big Green.
Qadir and Onuma fell in first doubles as Quinnipiac looked to take the first point of the afternoon.
Ren and Knox-Jones were locked in a back and forth doubles match. The Big Green earned the doubles point as the Dartmouth duo won the match 7-5.
Singles
Groom was the first member of the Big Green to earn a singles win. He won the first set 6-1 and the followed it up with a 6-1 win in the second set.
The next singles match to end was first singles. Guerrero Alvarez won the first set 6-3 and then notched the win with a 6-2 second set win.
Ren notched his second singles win of the day in second singles. He won the first set 6-3 and then completed the sweep with a 7-6 win in the second set.
In fourth singles Onuma secured a two set win for the Big Green. He won the first set 6-4 and then repeated it in the second set with a 6-4 win.
Bao notched his first dual match win on Saturday as he played fifth singles. He won the first set 7-6 and the completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in the second set.
Zihao Yuan played sixth singles against Quinnipiac. He dropped the match 6-3, 6-3 as Quinnipiac picked up its lone point.
