LYME, N.H. – The 2025 National Championship opened Wednesday with the Slalom at the Dartmouth Skiway. Dartmouth's six alpine skiers finished both runs, finishing as high as fourth to secure 86.5 points and land the Big Green in fifth after the first day of competition.
The men were led by
Oscar Zimmer. His 42.40 on the first run had him ranked seventh headed into the second run. A 45.96 on the second run for a combined time of 1:28.36 earned Zimmer the fourth place finish and First-Team All-America status, his fifth first-team recognition.
Dan Gillis was the next Dartmouth finisher, wrapping the two runs tied for 22
nd overall. Gillis posted a 42.57 in the first run for the ninth fastest time of the field, followed by a 46.68 in his second run, combining for a 1:29.25.
Benny Brown rounded out the Big Green male skiers, posting a 43.51 and a 46.60 for a combined 1:30.11.
On the women's side,
Zoe Zimmermann led the way, finishing fifth overall and earning First Team All-America. Her 45.02 first run was eighth best while her 48.43 second run was second best for a combined 1:33.45.
This is Zimmermann's second All-America recognition, her first First-Team honors. Zimmermann earned Second-Team All-America on this discipline last season.
Carly Elsinger finished 21
st overall for the Big Green. She posted a 46.70 in her first run and a 49.09 in her second run for a combined 1:35.79.
Izzy Washburn also finished both her runs, coming in 26
th overall. Washburn finished her first run in 47.68 and her second in 49.03.
The National Championship will continue tomorrow with the Nordic 7.5K Classic Individual Start at Oak Hill. The women will race first at 10 a.m. followed by the men at 12 p.m.
Alpine racing will conclude on Friday with the Giant Slalom at The Skiway. The women's first run is set for 9:30 a.m. followed by the men's first run at 10:25.
