ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Big Green traveled to Maryland for their final regular season tournament this weekend, playing two rounds at the Navy Invitational.
After Round One, the Big Green sit in fourth place, having shot a +19. Carolyn A. Pelzel '54a Head Coach of Women's Golf
Alex Kirk said conditions were wet and cold, causing a delayed start, soggy fairways and a slow start for the team.
Lauren Pham, competing as an individual for the Big Green, is currently in fourth after round one. Pham shot a +1 through 18 holes, collecting one birdie.
Caroline Chung sits in tenth. She shot a 75 (+3) to lead the Big Green's team scores.
Just behind Chung is first-year
Olivia Cong. Cong tallied a +4 through 18 holes, collecting one birdie on hole ten.
Sophie Thai and
Alissa Xu sit tied for 17
th overall with a +6. Thai has one birdie through round one, highlighting a -1 back half. Xu also has one birdie through 18 holes.
Hope Hall rounds out the Big Green with a +14.
Despite the tough conditions, the Big Green led the field of teams in pars, tallying 57.
The Big Green will wrap the Navy Invite Sunday, their final round ahead of the Ivy League Championships next weekend.
"We have the depth and talent, we just need to make better decisions and commit to the shot," Kirk said. "If we can improve par three scoring and collect a few more birdies overall, we can charge up the leaderboard."
