Faye Benjamin took to the water to conclude the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association Women's Team Race National Championship Monday, finishing in fifth place.
The Big Green posted an 8-8 overall record through the national championship.
Dartmouth finished Round 1 of sailing against Brown and Tulane. The Big Green got the win against Tulane, sweeping the middle finishing positions, second, third, and fourth. Despite earning the first place finishing positions against Brown, the Big Green were not able to secure the win, finishing Round 1 of sailing with a 6-5 record.
They did qualify for the Round of 6, sailing alongside Stanford, Yale, Tulane, Harvard, and Cornell. The Big Green posted a 2-3 record, earning wins against Tulane and Harvard thanks to second, third, and fifth place finishing positions.
The Big Green dropped their Round of 6 race to Cornell, leaving the two teams tied at 8-8 for fourth place. To determine which team would advance to the Final 4, they competed in a sail off.
Dartmouth earned second, third, and sixth place finishing positions against the Big Red, dropping the sailoff to secure fifth place overall.
The Big Green will get the next three weeks off before returning to action in Maryland for both the Women's and Open Fleet Race National Championship. The women's championship will take place from May 20 through May 23 followed by the open championship from May 27 to May 30.
