PISCATAWAY, N.J. – For the second straight weekend, the Dartmouth Women's Golf program took to the course, this time at the Rutgers Invitational.
The conditions proved difficult on the course today, wet and cold with on and off showers. After two rounds, the Big Green sit in fourth place.
Alissa Xu leads Dartmouth through two rounds, sitting in seventh place with a +9. Xu shot a +2 with two birdies in round one followed by a +7 with one birdie her second time through the course.
Sophie Thai is currently in 17
th overall with a +12. She shot a +6 in each round.
Olivia Cong jumped four spots in the overall standings with a +7 second round. Cong posted a +8 on the first round for an overall +15 and two birdies through 36 holes.
Hope Hall rounds out the Big Green finishers whose scored count towards the team score. She's shot a +15 with three birdies.
Victoria Tan, the fifth Big Green golfer, competed in the first rounnd but did not compete in the second round due to an injury. Carolyn A. Pelzel '54a Head Coach of Women's Golf
Alex Kirk is hopeful Tan will be able to compete in the final round of competition Sunday. Tan finished round one with a +7.
Competing as an individual,
Caroline Chung shot a +6 on the first round but jumped 11 spots in the overall standings with a +2 second round. Chung has two birdies.
"The team fought hard through the elements which made swinging the club challenging," Kirk said. "I'm very proud of [Chung]'s performance; a 73 during the second round is very impressive in these conditions."
The Big Green will return to action and conclude the Rutgers Invitational with the third round of golf on Sunday.
"I think we can improve tomorrow and move up the leaderboard," Kirk added about the final day of competition.
