HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's soccer team continued its success on Tuesday evening, collecting an explosive 6-0 win over Brandeis at Burnham Field.
This marked the first time in program history that the teams have met, bringing Dartmouth's season record to 5-2-3 with a 2-1-1 record at home. The Big Green outshot the Judges 41-6, which is their highest number of shots in a single game this season.
"To get back on Burnham is always a great thing and I think it brings out the best in us," Taylor Schram, the Stacy Branca '94 Head Coach of Women's Soccer, said. "And you saw that, certainly, in our attack tonight, just being able to have a lot of the ball."
Anna Leschly opened up scoring in the sixth minute with her first goal of the season, assisted by Sarah Shelburne. In the 34th minute, Frankie Valverde scored her first goal of the year with an assist from Lourdes Lauterborn. Less than a minute later, Audrey Marin connected with Michal Cagungun to give the Big Green a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Entering the second half, Lykke Ihrfelt launched her third goal of the season into the net off an assist from Mary Lundregan. The Big Green continued its dominance throughout the final 45 minutes, holding the Judges to only two shots. Stephanie Lathrop showed out in the final six minutes of the game, scoring back-to-back goals with assists from Nadia Young.
Ola Goebel played the first 45 minutes of the game in net, while Paige Knoth took over for the final half. Each goalkeeper had one save.
The Big Green will host Columbia for their Pride Game and first home conference game at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Following the game, the women's soccer team will hold a post-game autograph session. You can purchase tickets
