ITHACA, N.Y. – The Dartmouth men's basketball team secured a 102-91 victory over Cornell on Saturday afternoon at Newman Arena, making some program history in the process.
Coming off a 76-68 win off Harvard on Monday, the Big Green showed up ready to strike. Jayden Williams led the team in points with 24 on the afternoon, going 7-12 from beyond the arc and 3-3 at the free throw line. Connor Amundsen had his first career double-double, scoring 23 points with 10 assists. Brandon Mitchell-Day also recorded another double-double, scoring 17 points with 10 rebounds.
This marks the first time Dartmouth has started Ivy League play with two consecutive road wins since the 1959-60 season, when it defeated Cornell (77-59) and Columbia (84-78) on Jan. 8 and 9, 1960. Additionally, it is Dartmouth's first overall 2-0 start to conference play since the 1998-99 season when it defeated Harvard 78-59 and Columbia 58-54. The win also marks the first time since 2015 that Dartmouth has defeated Harvard and Cornell on the road since 2015.

FIRST HALF:
Dartmouth struck first, jumping to a 2-0 lead thanks to a layup by Jackson Munro. This was quickly matched by Cornell's Jacob Beccles, with a layup of his own.
Cornell continued inching close to Dartmouth's lead, but the Big Green went on a 6-0 run to give themselves some room to breathe.
The Big Green gained their largest lead of the half with under 11 minutes to go, giving themselves a 14 point advantage over the Big Red.
In the final minutes of the half, the Big Red began catching up, trailing by only four points heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF:
Cornell came out of halftime with an offensive spark, making a layup and two three pointers to take the 59-55 lead, which would prove to be its only lead of the game.
Dartmouth fought its way back to the front with a jumper and free throw by Amundsen, as well as a three pointer by Munro, allowing the team to regain a 61-59 lead.
The Big Red came within one point of tying the score, but Dartmouth gained as much as an 18 point lead towards the final minutes of the game.
Brandon Mitchell-Day made two free throws before Cornell attempted to chip away at the deficit one final time, securing a 102-91 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The Big Green had a 55.9 field goal percentage and shot 63.2% from the free throw line.
Dartmouth scored 42 points in the paint, and the bench was responsible for 24 of the team's 102 points.
Amundsen's 10 assists are the most for a Dartmouth player since Brendan Barry had 12 against Notre Dame on Dec. 19, 2017. He also had the first points-assists double-double by a Big Green player since that same game against Notre Dame.
