HANOVER, N.H. –The Dartmouth men's basketball team was defeated by Penn on Saturday at Leede Arena, falling 84-74.
The Big Green falls to 8-8 (2-1 Ivy) on the season, while Penn improves to 9-7 (2-1 Ivy). Connor Amundsen led the team in points with 18, while Jackson Munro and Kareem Thomas followed closely behind with 15 and 13, respectively.
Dartmouth was able to take as much as an eight point lead in the half, but Penn inched as close as one point from tying the game. Back-to-back Amundsen three pointers allowed Dartmouth to get some breathing room before Penn's AJ Levine tied the game at 38-38 heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF:
Thomas gave the Big Green the upper hand with a layup and a good free throw before Penn took its first lead with two layups of its own.
Dartmouth chipped at the deficit, coming as close as one point away from tying the game, thanks to a Mitchell-Day jumper, but Penn was able to pull away and build as much as a 12 point lead.
Two made free throws and a layup from Thomas helped Dartmouth come within eight points, but Penn closed the game with two made free throws to make the final score 84-74.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dartmouth scored 24 points in the paint, while its bench was responsible for 16 points overall.
The Big Green shot 73.3% from the free throw line, making 19 of 26.
This marked Amundsen's sixth game and Thomas's 14th with 10 or more points.
