BOSTON, Mass. – Over the weekend, the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) announced its first Nordic weekly awards of the season, recognizing
Ava Thurston as the women's Nordic skier of the week.
In the first carnival of the EISA circuit at St. Lawrence last weekend, Thurston led Dartmouth and the field, winning both races.
On Day 1 of the carnival, Thurston won the 10K Classic, posting a 29:48.8, finishing just under 34 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
She followed up her success on Tuesday with a win in the freestyle sprint, posting a time of 3:15.61. Her two wins helped the Dartmouth women to an overall first place finish.
Through the Nordic portion of the St. Lawrence Carnival, Dartmouth sits in second place with 420 points. The carnival will wrap with the alpine portion next weekend, with the giant slalom on Thursday, January 22 and the slalom on Friday, January 23.
