HANOVER, N.H. – This past week, Switzerland and Greece announced its 2026 Winter Olympic teams. Tanguy Nef '20 was named to Team Switzerland while AJ Ginnis '20, Greece's top ranked alpine skier, was named to Team Greece.
Both Nef and Ginnis will compete in their first Olympic Games.
Nef was a three-year member of the Dartmouth ski team, collecting many conference and national recognitions, including four All-American honors, three EISA team honors, and two USCSCA honors.
In his first season with the Big Green, Nef earned his first All-East first team recognition, being the fifth ranked skier in the east entering the national championship and the third in the giant slalom. He finished on the podium in his first collegiate race before collecting his first win at UNH. Nef was a Second Team All-American in the slalom at his first national championship.
He followed his freshman campaign with a dominant sophomore season. In the ten EISA races he competed in, he posted eight podiums including five overall wins. He also impressed at the National Championship, winning the slalom and posting second in the giant slalom to take home two First-Team All-American honors. In addition to earning All-East First Team honors, Nef was recognized as the USCSCA Male Alpine Skier of the Year.
In his junior season, his final with the Big Green, he won four EISA slaloms, including three straight at New Hampshire, Vermont, and on his home course for the Dartmouth Carnival. He earned one podium in the giant slalom before winning the event at the National Championship, his second individual national championship and third First-Team All-American honor.
Since graduating from Dartmouth in 2020, Nef has compiled 37 top ten finishes representing Switzerland. 16 of those were top five finishes while half of those landed Nef on the podium. In 2023, Nef won the Levi Slalom in Finland, following up his win with a second-place finish on the same event the next day.
Ginnis only raced for the Big Green for one season, taking the course during his senior season. He earned a podium finish after placing third in the slalom at the Colby Carnival.
Since graduating from Dartmouth, Ginnis has tallied five overall wins, collecting ten top-ten finishes. His most recent win was at Paranossos in Greece in March of 2024.
The Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina are set to begin on Friday, February 6 with the first official downhill ski event taking place on Saturday, February 7. More information on Nef, Ginnis, and the rest of the Big Green Olympians can be found on DartmouthSports.com.
