CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Ivy League play opened on Monday evening for the Dartmouth men's basketball team, resulting in a thrilling 76-68 victory over Harvard at Lavietes Pavilion.
The victory brought Dartmouth's season record to 7-7 while marking its first victory in a road Ivy League opener since the 1998-99 season when it defeated Harvard 78-59. This also marks the Big Green's sixth win over Harvard in the last eight tries, making this the best eight-game stretch against Harvard since the late 1980s/early 1990s.
Kareem Thomas led the team with 19 points, while Connor Amundsen matched his season high in scoring with 18 points and collected four rebounds. Brandon Mitchell-Day led in rebounds with seven.

FIRST HALF:
Mitchell-Day put Dartmouth on the board with a layup just 30 seconds into the game. Harvard evened the score before Mitchell-Day allowed Dartmouth to jump to another two-point lead with good free throws.
The Crimson took their only lead of the half with 13 minutes left, a one-point deficit for the Big Green which was erased by two Amundsen free throws just 30 seconds later.
The score tied three more times until Dartmouth took as much as an eight point lead over Harvard. Going into halftime, the Crimson were able to put the lead within one point.
SECOND HALF:
The second half began neck-and-neck, with Harvard taking a short 41-40 lead before Dartmouth took it back with two Amundsen free throws. The Crimson held its final lead of the game, 43-42, for less than a minute before Amundsen brought the score back in Dartmouth's favor with a three pointer.
Harvard tied the game once more, 55-55, but Dartmouth fought to put some insurance on their lead.
Thomas made two free throws to secure Dartmouth's 76-68 victory in its Ivy League opener.
